How it Works

High Impact Solutions for fighting fugitive methane.
PermCap-GHG’s Methane abatement process
PermCap employs a comprehensive approach to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the carbon credits derived from our work.  We  perform all processes in strict accordance with the methodology established for plugging orphaned oil and gas wells by the American Carbon Registry – ACR OOG V1.0 . All aspects of our projects are subjected to comprehensive audit and validation by a certified independent 3rd party verification body – the resulting carbon offsets are high-impact, accurate and durable and represent actual, quantified reductions in the uncontrolled release of fugitive methane.
Locating Orphaned Wells
The first step is to locate abandoned wells. This can be a challenging task, as many orphaned wells are not properly documented. Our team uses a variety of methods to locate these wells, including aerial drone surveys, ground surveys, and municipal partnerships.
Assessing the Leak
Assess an orphaned well’s condition involves evaluating the well's integrity and determining the extent of any leaks. PermCap  uses a variety of tools and techniques to assess the condition of orphaned wells, including thermal imaging cameras, and highly sensitive methane detecting equipment.
Sealing the Well
This involves permanently plugging the wellbore and preventing any further methane emissions. All plugging work is done in a manner that is consistent with the prevailing state and federal regulations.

Sustainable Development Goals
Imagine a future where clean air is abundant, vibrant ecosystems flourish, and communities are restored – a future made possible by projects like those undertaken by PermCap.  Their success isn't just about methane removal data; it's about high-impact improvements in the lives of people, animals, and the environment we share.

These projects haven't just curbed harmful methane emissions; they've ignited a ripple effect of positive change. Data-driven analysis, meticulously gathered and interwoven with scientific expertise, proves their direct contribution to no less than six of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. That's not just progress – it's a leap towards a healthier, more sustainable world for all.
